Thunderbird School of Global Management was created in 1946 and has a focus in educating global leaders on the intricacies of international management. The business schools mission is to educate global leaders and create sustainable prosperity worldwide. Thunderbird strives to dramatically grow their positive impact on the global economy that is in need of global leadership talent.
The business school is the oldest and largest graduate school for international business in the United States and consistently ranks number one in the area of international business education. Thunderbird has an educational goal of developing global managers who operate with a broad, big-picture mindset that allows them to operate within diverse cultures and manage different social, economic and political environments effectively.
Students at Thunderbird come from 66 different country’s and experience multicultural adventures every day through multiple outdoor gatherings at the pool, library, or dining hall, or through the 60 different professional, regional and social clubs. The state-of-the-art library, also known as the International Business Information Centre, is the hub of diversity and international education at Thunderbird. It offers plenty of individual and group study space, a technologically advanced video-conference room and workstations that contain campus directories and networks.
The career services centre at Thunderbird connects students with global employers through different services provided. The professional development week takes place every fall and includes soft-skill training and industry workshops along with employer and alumni panel discussions, guest speakers and a career fair with over 50 employers. The career services centre also helps students search for internships and jobs and provides them with a career management seminar that is required.
The Full-time MBA Programme in Global Management is a module based programme where students are taught through top-tiered faculty and immersed in global management situations. There are seven modules that take place over three trimesters for an approach that allows in-depth study of concentrated, primary topics. The modules are:

- Module 2 – Lead Change within Context and with Analytics
- Module 3 – Deliver Value across Borders
- Module 4 – Navigate Complex Initiatives

- Module 6 – Create Opportunity – Manage in a Volatile & Uncertain World
The Executive MBA Programme is a part-time programme that lasts 20 months and requires eight years of experience. It consists of 49 credits and the average age is 37 years old. The programme is designed for the seasoned working professional who is interested in broadening their global outlook and their global network. The programme is also offered in Geneva for working professionals across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The curriculum is composed of the traditional MBA framework combined with an in-depth global political and economic focus. During the programme, students explore business courses within a global context, gain business knowledge and an understanding of cross-cultural issues, learn about political and economic conditions in various regions of the world, and draw on perspectives of experienced faculty members. The programme is delivered through case studies, peer interaction and hands-on experiential learning projects.
