Key Differentiators

Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, was founded in 1916 and has produced leaders who meet the challenges of global business environments through creative and effective solutions.  The business school has recently narrowed the focus of its programmes to create a more personalised educational experience and has consistently offered leading faculty and a wide range of international study options to students for almost a century.

Fisher has placed an emphasis on experiential learning in the classroom that is designed to create new depths of experience for their students through partnerships with corporations and non-profits.  Some activities offered that facilitate this learning method are the CNBC’s portfolio challenge, the FPS ProjectONE Case Competitions or the IMS Intern Programme.

The business school holds the strategic initiatives of creating uniquely prepared students, providing action-based learning, developing world-class departments, eliminating constraints and boundaries, turning ideas into business and creating sustainability.  The success of their graduate programme is based on the academic fundamentals and personalised experience students receive in and out of the classroom.

 

Courses

The Full-time MBA Programme is an intentionally small programme that is designed to deliver an intimate learning experience to develop students’ abilities to take on challenges of the business world and develop a strong fundamental management base.  Action-based learning is a critical component of the curriculum and students part-take in field courses, certificate programmes, case plan and business plan competitions and global opportunities to promote the learning method.

150 students each year are accepted to the programme and immersed in a curriculum that is designed to deliver core fundamentals of management and a personalised experience through electives.  The programme is divided in the 10 core courses at 24 credit hours, three flex core credit hours, 12 elective credit hours to complete a major and 18 additional elective credit hours for a total of 57 credit hours.

During year one, the core courses are covered, followed by break where students participate in an internship.  Below is a diagram of the curriculum, provided by Fisher.

The Executive MBA Programme is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of business practice and how to think strategically and globally in a business environment.  The programme is built on a rigorous foundation of courses covering all of the fundamental areas of business and integrates issue-oriented and customised interests throughout the classes.

The programme is designed to gain students’ comprehensive business perspective on current management issues, teach students to think broadly and strategically, develop team work skills through group projects, give students an international experience through a global integration course, and hone their entrepreneurial skills through the creation of a business plan. Executive Education Programmes are also offered in open-enrollment and customisable formats that are designed to provide learning solutions and increase business professionals’ knowledge and skills.  The open-enrollment programmes are offered in the areas of management, marketing, leadership, six sigma and supply chain management.  The custom programs are designed for organisations and large groups to create specific programmes that meet company objectives.
