Copenhagen Business School (CBS) was established in 1917 and has an alumni base of 19,000 students and over 13,000 employees. At CBS, students are engaged both inside and outside the classroom and are given a variety of opportunities, like learning Danish, participating in international activities or programmes, volunteering and many other things. CBS is accredited by EQUIS, AMBA and the AACSB and is the first school in Scandanavia to receive the triple-crown. These accreditations, along with international benchmarks, peer review of research departments every five years, and regular course programme evaluations ensure the high-quality education delivered by CBS.

 

Courses

The Full-time MBA Programme at CBS offers a strong emphasis on real-life cases and also integrates theory and practice. The curriculum is based off of innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability and leadership development is emphasized throughout.

The programme is one year and and the curriculum consists of cases, guest speakers, simulations and work shops. The cases are used as tools for students to exercise the techniques of analysis and encourage them to discuss important business issues. The classes require active participation and is based the preparation of the assignments. The programme is broken down into three trimesters. In trimester one, the courses covered are:

  • Organisational Behaviour and Managerial Decision Making
  • Management Accounting
  • Marketing Management
  • Economics
  • Human Resources
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship

In the second trimester, the courses covered are:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Change Management
  • Operations Management
  • Corporate Finance
  • Strategic Management
  • International Business

The third trimester consists of electives and an integrated strategy project where students work on a business case of a company in the local region.

The Executive MBA is an 18-month programme that uses case studies featuring simulations, debate, experiential learning, discussing with industry leaders, projects and expeditions to markets in USA and China. Classes are held in four to five day modules once a month.

The first semester focuses on general management solutions, basic managerial systems and the core management competencies in business. The courses are in:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Performance Management
  • Supply Chain Management and Operations Management

Also, an integrated semester project and study tour to a BRIC country is included in the semester.

The second semester deals with the issues of complexity, macro perspectives on management, business analysis and leadership skills. Students will take courses in the areas of:

  • Leadership and Organisation
  • Corporate Finance
  • Economics
  • International Marketing and Quantitative Methods
  • Sustainability Business Cases

An integrated semester project and study tour in the US is also included in the second semester.

The third and final semester focuses on business development and innovation. A final thesis must be completed in a chosen area of research. Students will take courses in these areas:

  • Change Management
  • Global Emerging Markets
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • Strategic Development

CBS also offers an Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics that helps participants adopt a holistic view of shipping by integrated the commercial, technological and financial views of maritime law and supply-chain management techniques. The programme is based on the four governing themes of leadership challenges, globalisation of the world economy, implications of information and communication technology development and changes in logistics requirements.
